Hardcover book, mustard yellow covers. On front is an elaborate series of illustrations - Christ on the cross on the left, a shield and sword at the bottom left, more weapons at the bottom, fines and flowers at the top and right, and at the center a man standing looking up at the cross. The title is at the top center. Written on the facing page inside the front cover is "Til Carl Drejer og hustru / i anleduing af deres guld / bryllups dag den 17 Dec. 1892 / fra Chr. Anker / Frederik Pedersen / og Mathias Pedersen". Contains 316 pages of text and illustrations. 8 3/4 x 10 7/8 PROVENANCE: This book was a gift to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Drejer, charter members of the Elk Horn Lutheran Church, for their golden wedding anniversary, December 17, 1892. They received it from Christian Anker, Frederck Pedersen, and Mathias Pedersen. Mr. and Mrs. Drejer were the donor's grandparents. Carl Drejer was born February 15, 1813 in Fyn, Denmark, and immigrated to the U.S. about 1875 with his wife Huildmine Jensdatter Drejer. He farmed south and west of Elk Horn, Iowa, and died April 14, 1894. Huildmine Jensdatter Dreyer was born June 21, 1813 in Fyn, Denmark, married Carl on December 17, 1842, and died April 10, 1897. The couple had five children. |
