Scope / Description |
Recognition certificate. Rectangular, horizontally oriented. Cream colored paper with ornate gold border around the outer edge. In black is "Supreme Lodge of the Danish Sisterhood of America / Gratefully Acknowledges / Florence M. Glover / for / 60 years / of / Faithful and Devoted Service / to the Danish Sisterhood / 6/22 1995 Else Lassiter / President. In the viewer's lower left corner is a silver and red sticker with a jagged outer edge. Inside the red circle is "DANISH SISTERHOOD OF AMERICA / ORGANIZED 1883" and inside the center is the Sisterhood insignia including "DSS" and a heart. On the outside of the ornate gold border is at the lower left "GOES 463" and at the lower right "LITHO IN U.S.A." 11 x 8 1/2 PROVENANCE: This certificate was given to the donor's mother Florence Glover who was a member of the Danish Sisterhood Lodge #163 in Austin, Minnesota. Florence was born here in the United States, the daughter of Danish immigrants Karl Otto Mortensen and Maren Ditlefsen Mortensen. Florence was one of ten children. Karl and Maren died young and the children were orphaned. |
