Scope / Description |
Certificate, horizontally oriented, with Japanese characters in black ink. A thin, black line frames the certificate. The certificate is divided into squares and rectangles of different sizes. In the top corner to the viewer's right it says "A. J. Clement" on a dotted line. There are numbers and dates written in black ink in between the Japanese characters. At the bottom to the viewer's left are three black and white photos. There are some red Japanese stamps on the certificate, a rectangular one at the top edge towards the corner to the viewer's right and two, a round and a square one, at the bottom edge near the edge to viewer's right. There are two pieces of adhesive tape at the top edge of the certificate. One at the corner to the viewer's left side and one towards the corner to the viewer's right side. There are three pieces of adhesive tape on the back. The back side of the certificate is blank. The three photos show Aage J. Clement, his wife Magda Clement, and their daughter Annelise Clement. In the top corner is a date, the 8th day in the 11th month of the 18th year of the Showa era. In the top center it says "Address Report", and at the top corner to the viewer's right it says "Submitted by", and below is Aage Clement's signature. Below the date in the top corner to the viewer's left it says: "Submitted to: Chief of Police of Karuizawa". The line below that reads: " The following foreigners are restricted to travel under the law". The following line contains an address, the next line has "Arrival date", and the line after that has "Previous address" and "Foreign address". Then follows six columns with the headings "Country", Occupation", "Relation", "Name", "Birth Year Month Date", and "Gender". In the bottom corner are the following instructions: "Carry this document with you and show upon request. Chief of Police, Karuizawa". 9 1/2 x 12 3/4. |
