The letter is written on decorated writing paper with a snow covered landscape with a windmill on the front of the page. In the top corner to the viewer's left it says "Julen 1954". The letter is written in hand in blue ink. The letter is a Christmas greeting to Annelise from her aunt, Karen Jensen. Karen writes about one Christmas that Annelise, her mother, and her mother's sister spent with Karen and her husband. She then thanks her for the birthday greetings and a beautiful handkerchief that Annelise sent her. Then she comments on the fact that Annelise's parents have moved to the island where Annelise and her husband live, and she writes that she would like to come visit them, but that she will have to make do with imagining how everything there looks. She then suggests that Annelise and Warder come visit them in Denmark. Then she comments on Annelise's work with her puppies, and she writes about the weather in Denmark. She passes along greetings from her husband, Jimmy, and she asks Annelise to give their greetings to her husband, Warder. 7 1/2 x 10 1/4. Envelope: The envelope has a red and white border. There is a drawing of a snow covered church on the front at the end of the envelope to the viewer's left. Along the top edge of the envelope, just next to the picture of the church, are two Danish Christmas postage stamps with pictures of children and birds in the snow. In the top corner to the viewer's right is a brown postage stamp and a postal mark. Along the edge of the picture of the church is a blue sticker with white writing on it. It says "LUFTPOST / PAR AVION". The envelope is addressed to "Mrs. W. Stoaks / Sylvan / Washington / U.S.A." The address for Karen Jensen, Copenhagen, is on the back of the envelope. Apart from her address, the back side of the envelope is blank. The lining of the envelope has pictures of spruce twigs on it. The lining is visible through the paper. The envelope was opened at the edge to the viewer's left. The envelope is addressed to Annelise Stoaks and sent with a Christmas letter in it by Karen Jensen.
