This catalog consists of 18 letters, 4 clippings, 1 funeral program, 1 newsletter issue, 1 story/memorial/, and 1 affidavet. All relate to Thorvald G. Muller. The letters are all written by him unless otherwise designated. The first letter was to Muller by Hans Sogmidt in Denmark. It is dated December 17, 1950. It is typewritten on a small paper which doubles as the envelope. On the outside are three stamps and a postmark in the upper left with the mail to address below. Teh return address is on the other side. Blueish green in color. Written in Danish. The second letter is on white lined paper, T.G. Muller's letterhead. It is written in black ink, dated May 21, 1920. It's in Danish. Fills front and back. The third letter is on same letterhead. Written in black ink, front and back of page. Dated May 11, 1920. Danish. The fourth letter is on lined off white paper. Written on front only, dated May 19, 1920. Danish. The fifth letter is on a single paper folded at the left. Has Den Norske Amerikalinje A/S logo at the top left. Dated May 1920. Written in black ink on all four pages. Danish. The sixth letter is on same paper, in Danish, in black ink, on all four pages. Dated July 25, 1920. The seventh letter is on same paper, in Danish, in black ink, on all four pages. Dated July 8, 1920. The eighth letter is on two sheets of white lined paper. Black ink, in Danish, on all four sides. Datd June 4, 1920. The ninth letter is to Thorvald Muller, on white unlined paper. Single sheet, written on both sides in black ink. Dated June 28, 1920. From Gudren? (Muller). Tenth letter is in black ink on white lined paper, single sheet. In Danish. Dated June 14, 1920. Fills both sides. Eleventh letter in black ink, on Muller's white letterhead. Dated June 23, 1920. In Danish. Fills both sides of single sheet. Twelfth letter on same paper, in black ink, in Danish, on both sides of single sheet. Dated July 18, 1920. Has lots of blue along top edge and in lower right corner. Thirteenth letter on same paper, black ink, in Danish. Dated April 29, 1920. On two sheets of this paper, written on front sides only. Fourteenth letter on same paper, black ink, Danish. Dated April 23, 1920. On front and back of two sheets of this paper. Fifteenth letter on same paper, black ink, Danish. Not dated. Brief letter, three paragraphs separated by space. Signed at bottom. Nothing on back. Sixteenth letter on single sheet of unlined white paper. Written in black ink, Danish, on both sides of paper. Regards the affidavet found later in this gift lot. (The latter dates 1906.) Seventeenth letter on two pages of white unlined paper, typewritten. In English, talking about how important the trip to Denmark has been and is to him, how much he wishes them all well if for some reason he did not make it back. Dated April 29, 1920. (On back top of second page is "Translation of letter written by Dad--T.G. Muller) Eighteenth letter is on four pages of white lined paper. Written on fronts only, in blue ink. Pages are numbered. Dated April 29, 1920. First clipping is called "Life Story of T.G. Muller, 78." It's one column long, in English. Written after his death, so it's like an obituary. Second clipping is about T.G. Muller in Danish. Titled "Thorvald Muller fra Kimballton, Iowa." Single long column. Written by Karl Krab, Rødding, Denmark. Third clipping is about Muller in English. Titled "T.G. Muller, Kimballton Merchant, Died Sunday." Has small picture of him in upper right and then text down the side and below photo. Fourth clipping is about the Muller family, about the home, Thorvald Muller and his fondness for music, for hosting people, his businesses. Two columns next to each other. The funeral program is for Thorvald. White, small, with purple illustration on front of light shining down from a cloud onto three open lilies. Along the left is a poem called "A Loving Rembrance" by Bryant." Inside is his information. On the back is the name of the funeral home--Jensen Funeral Service, Kimballton and Elk Horn, Iowa. Affidavet is a single sheet of typewritten paper, which looks purple, stating that Thorvald has land and his is willing to let his uncle Hans Lauritzne Muller, who will be coming from Denmark, live on this land. From the state of Nebraska. Not signed, but the date is September 26, 1906. Newsletter called Kirke og Folk is dated April 10, 1952. Has obituary for T. G. Muller on pages 3 and 4 with a small photo of him. Memorial or story on two pages of thin yellow paper. Title is "In Memory of Thorvald G. Muller, Kimballton, Iowa. " It was typewritten and done by Finn Eriksen. There is a letter attached at the back from Finn offering this article to a newspaper. That is dated February 29, 1952. |
