Scope / Description |
Small, vertically oriented diary used more as an account book with stiff black covers. Imprinted on front is "DIARY / 1920". Inside are reference pages like cities and states, weights and measures, and maps at the center. There are no actual diary entries, but rather lists of supplies and costs toward the back. 2 3/4 x 5 3/8 PROVENANCE: This diary belonged to Paul Peter Larsen. He lived and worked for a time in the United States, arriving here about 1910. He was drafted into the armed forces out of Cass County, Iowa in October of 1918, though available records do not indicate if he had to serve since the Armistice was signed the following month. Larsen later homesteaded in Canada and then returned to Denmark to buy a farm outside of Odense. While in the U.S., he worked on bridge construction. Larsen died around 1985-1987. |
