Scope / Description |
Scrapbook detailing the beginnings of the second world war, paying close attention to US involvement. Materials include mainly newspaper clippings and small amounts of ephemera and photographs. The scrapbook has a paperboard backing with a thin red and tan checkered cover. The proper right upper corner of the front cover appears to have once had a title handwritten in black ink which has faded over time. 7 3/4" W x 11" L x 3/4" D Laura (Thompsen) Sorensen was born in Kansas City, Kansas on March 29, 1895, the daughter of Danish immigrants Berthel and Amalia Thompsen. Laura married Jacob Sorensen, also a Danish immigrant, in 1913. The couple earned a living in the dairy business until 1951, when they both retired. Laura moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma on November 1, 1990. |
