Scope / Description |
Postcard entitled, "Easter Greeting" is addressed to "Mr. Jens Dixon, Kenmare, North Dakota" from "P.H.L Pedersen, Cedar Falls, Iowa." The front side of the postcard has a blue/purple cross that is gold trimmed, floating in a blue-sky background. There are pink and blue flowers that are behind and wrapping around the cross. "Easter Greeting" is printed in gold-color below the cross. The picture is stamped (?) into the postcard paper, because the negative impression shows through to the back side. The back side contains the address on the (viewer's) right side and the text and signature on the (viewer's) left side. The text has been written in such a way that it is encompassed in the negative impression of the cross, with the signature line below the cross. Dimensions: 5.5" W x 3.875" L Overall, the postcard is in good conditon. There is some light yellowing, particularly along the outer edges. All four corners and the bottom edge show signs of wear. Some of the gold lettering on the "E" in "Easter" has been rubbed off, as well as part of the gold outlining of the cross. There are black smudges to the (viewer's) left of the cross, as well as wear (missing paper/tears) to some of the petals of the flowers. The back side of the postcard is yellowed with darker yellowing around the outer edges, particularly along the (viewer's) right edge. All four corners show signs of wear. There is a black mark in the (viewer's) upper left hand corner and pencil marks in the (viewer's) bottom right hand corner. Some of the text in the cross is slightly faded. |
