Scope / Description |
Set of 18 wedding related telegram cards. Rectangular and vertical in orientation. Made of heavy paper, off white, and folded in half at the left so that it opens like a greeting card. Telegrams were in celebration of the marriage of Johanne (Thomsen) and Poul/Paul Larsen who wedded february 6, 1931. Telegram 1: On front is a sheer piece of fabric with a violet flower and green and brown leaves embroidered on it. It is surrounded by a raised gold scrolled border. Below is "Paa / Bryllupsdagen" in raised gold and handwritten is "De ___ ____ paa Bryllup_dagen / Alfred." Nothing inside or on back. 8 3/4 x 11 Telegram 2: Front cover has a circular opening through which the print on the inside is viewed, that of a tree growing in the middle of a road. The opening is surrounded by scrolled and floral design, part of which is gold, and the rest is uncolored. Below is "BRYLLUPS / TELEGRAM" Inside below the print is handwritten "Til Lykke med Po__en og Bryllupspesders! / Gid Lykken jir folge i fjerne Vesden / Marline og ____ / Vidstrup Skole". 8 1/2 x 10 7/8 Telegram 3: Front cover shows a sheer piece of fabric with a pink and purple bird on a green twig. Surrounding it is a border of gold rings. Below is "Bryllups / Telegram". There is a raised border on all four sides. Inside is handwritten "Vor benske Omker og H___ / paa Bryllupsdagen / ___ ___ __ ___ / ___. " 8 7/8 x 11 1/8 Telegram 4: Front cover shows a colored image of red, pink, and purple flowers inside a crest-shaped silver border. There are two Danish flags behind it. Below in silver is "Solvbryllups - Telegram". Inside is another thinner sheet of paper folded like two pages. Tied around the middle with a white string, with ends dangling outside the card. On the first "page" is "Modtag de hjerteligste / Lykønskninger / paa Sølvbryllupsdagen / De Kærligsle Hilsner / fra annie Kurt og Kitten". 8 7/8 x 11 Telegram 5: Front cover shows oval black and white print of trees in the distance and water further out. It is surrounded by a rectangular box of gold floral designs. Below is "Paa / Bryllupsdagen" in gold and then handwritten "___ vi til Lykke. / Krista og Ejnar H___." The outer edges have a raised uncolored scrolled border. Nothing inside or on back. 8 3/4 x 11 Telegram 6: Front cover has a black and white print of a bridge over water. Surrounding the print is a raised uncolored scrolled design and draped over it is more floral and scrolled design. Below in raised uncolored letters is "BRYLLUPS / TELEGRAM" and handwritten is "Vor _yardeligste Lyk_nskring paa / Hojtidsdagen / ved o__". Inside are written many names: "Offer__ Andersen Niels Nielsen / Severin Madsen / Sigurd Madsen Teoder Madsen / Mariane Madsen Magda Jensen / Mardine Jensen / Jacob Jensen Kristian Hvins / Niels Houbak Soren Thoft / Niels Bak Frederik Jepsen / Alfred Pedersen Møller Kristensen / Johannes Pedersen". Nothing on back. 8 1/2 x 11. Telegram 7: Front cover has an oval black and white print of a church in the distance past the trees. Around the image is a raised wreath of leaves and gold ribbons. Below is "BRYLLUPS / TELEGRAM" in raised gold. There is a raised uncolored scrolled border on three sides. Inside is written "De bedste ____ paa Hojtidsdagen / Mardine og J. P. Knudsen". Nothing on back. 8 5/8 x 11 Telegram 8: Front cover has a large black and white image of two women working wool - one is carding it and the other spinning. It is surrounded by a raised gold floral and scrolled border. Below is "Paa / Bryllupsdagen" in raised gold letters. Below is written "____ Gar_by til Lykke. / Valborg Hansen." Nothing inside or on back. 8 3/4 x 11 Telegram 9: Front cover shows a sheer piece of fabric with pink flowers and green leaves stitched on. It is surrounded by a gold floral border. Below in raised gold letters is "Paa / Bryllupsdagen". There is a raised uncolored floral border on all four sides. Inside is written "Hjerdelig til Lykke paa Bryllupsdagen / med Hilsen fra Ellen og Poul Jensen / Toneby". On back, "52" is written in the upper left corner. 8 1/2 x 10 5/8. Telegram 10: Front cover shows an oval black and white image of a bride and groom inside a raised gold scrolled border. Below is in raised gold letters "Paa / Bryllupsdagen" and below is written "Hjerdelig til Lykke! Oj al_ gad__ for / Eders Fremkid med venlig Hilsen / fra Kirsten, Johanne, Olga / og Svend Svendsen." Nothing inside or on back. 8 3/4 x 11 Telegram 11: Front shows an oval sheer fabric with a blue and pink flower and a pink, black, green, and blue butterfly resting on it. It is surrounded by a raised "clam shell" shaped gold border and then a raised uncolored scrolled border. Below is in raised gold letters "Bryllups / Telegram" and written is "Vore bedste Lykonskvinger paa Bryllupsdagen / onskes af / Marie og Chr Eistrup Vidsbrup". Nothing inside or on back. 8 3/4 x 10 7/8. Telegram 12: Front has a plot of purple flowers at the top center with a section of yellow fence on either side. Extending up from the fence are white flowers and their leaves, and down from the fence are more purple flowers with two more white ones in the lower corners of the card. Inside this opening is in blue lettering "Paa / Bryllupsdagen" and written "Hjerdelig Til Lykke paa Bryllupsdagen / onskes af / Karen og Holden Olsen". At the bottom left is "A.V. No 1161". Nothing inside or on back. 8 7/8 x 11 3/8. Telegram 13: Front has a rectangular black and white image of trees on a hillside. Below it is "DANKWART DREYER PINX. Carolinekilden ved Nasby, Fyn." At the center is in raised gold letters "Paa Bryllupsdagen" and written below is "Hjerdelig Hykonskring / paa Bryllupsdagen / d. 6/2. 1931. Fra _armlin_ Ths. Paulsen". Nothing inside or on back. 8 3/4 x 11 1/4 Telegram 14: Same basic description as Telegram 7. Inside is written "Esbjerg den 4/2-31. / Til Brudeparret. / Hjertelig til Lykke paa Bryllupsdagen / onskes af / Carl og Marie." Nothing on back. Telegram 15: On thinner paper, more beige than off-white, and single sheet (not folded). On front is a rectangular print of a drawing of a stream running through trees. Surrounded by a sort of leafy border on three sides. Below in gold is "Bryllups Telegram" and written is "Hjerdelig Tillyke / paa Brylupsdagen / onskes af / Edvard Hansen og Kirstine". 8 1/2 x 11 1/8 Telegram 16: Front has an oval black and white image of a path through trees, surrounded by a raised gold line border, flowers above, and flowers on each side. There are raised uncolored ribbons tied around the flowers on the sides. Below in raised gold is "BRYLLUPS / TELEGRAM" and there is an uncolored raised scrolled border on the three outer edges. Inside is another thinner sheet of paper folded like two pages. Tied around the middle with a white string, with ends dangling outside the card. On the "first page" is a circular print of a shoreline with water on one side and trees on the bank. It is surrounded by a raised uncolored scrolled border. Below in raised uncolored letters is "BRYLLUPS / TELEGRAM" and written "Hjerdelig til Lykke. / __ og Sorin Rishoj". 8 1/2 x 11 Telegram 17: Front has a large oval opening through which one can see a black and white image of a path passing through trees. Surrounded by a raised floral, and ribbon border, partially gold and partially uncolored. Below in raised gold is "BRYLLUPS / TELEGRAM". Inside, the print is rectangular. Below is written "Hjerdelig til Lykke på Bryllupsdagen! / Med Hilsen, Familien Kristian Grøn / Skovholen". Nothing on back. 8 1/2 x 11 Telegram 18: Front has a color image of pink and yellow flowers inside a pink water pitcher. Around all four sides is a raised gold border of scrolls. Below the image is in raised gold "Paa Bryllupsdagen". Inside is written "De bedste Lykans___ / i Dagens ___ / Laura og Carl Christiansen".
