Postcard with a color drawing of a brick wall with a decorative stone inset. On stone is a smiling sun and a bird. Beneath image is, "DENMARK BUILDING/ SAN FRANCISCO/ PANAMA PACIFIC/ INTERNATIONAL EXPOSITION." "1915" appears twice on both sides of text. A line of Danish text beneath English. Message in Danish covers back side of postcard. Written by Karen K. Jespersen (spelling?). Dated 1921. Card has not been mailed. 5 1/2" L x 3 1/2" W Objects in this collection belonged to the donor's father, Reverend Henrik Knudsen Plambeck, a famous Danish American Lutheran minister. He played a role in founding the Danish community of Dagmar, MT. Rev. Plambeck immigrated to America in 1892. Once here, he attended Grand View College Seminary School and was ordained October 4, 1903 at Oak Hill Lutheran Church west of Brayton, IA. He served numerous parishes across America until he retired in 1938. He died January 31, 1948. He married Kristine Christensen on October 4, 1912. They had three children- Eva (donor), Henry, and Harold. |
