Scope / Description |
Scrapbook made from a ledger. Board of Directors and general meeting minutes, receipt information, and other financial information pasted inside on the ledger pages. 261 pages used. First few pages have "DANISH AID AND RELIEF SOCIETY" stamped on them at the top center. The first page inside the cover has the stamp on the upper right. The book is a Universal Figuring Book, No. S98 3-F. Covers are faded black with dark red outside corners and spine. The spine has lines of filigree detail and at the lower edge "S98 / F / 300." 9 3/4" W x 12 1/2" L (Viewer's perspective used throughout catalog.) The Danish Aid and Relief Society was created in August of 1888 in Chicago, Illinois. There purpose was to aid the poor Danish immigrants of the city by providing food and donations. Fundraising efforts included an annual ball held at Scandia Hall. |
