Description |
White cotton dress or gown used for baptisms. The dress has thin lace at the neckline and at the cuffs. There is a small cream colored bow on the proper left side of the collar. The neckline has the thin lace at the edge and then a "V" shaped transparent section with embroidered flowers and dots. There is no decoration on the body of the dress. Near the hem there are three layers of lace--there is a thin lace section, cotton with embroidered flowers, lace, solid cotton with no embroidery, and then a lace trim. Fastens in back with two buttons (made of shell?). |

This object belonged to Niels & Rosa Nielsen. Niels came from Denmark and Rosa was from Wisconsin. They settled together in Dagmar, Montana, and were farmers. Niels was born April 13, 1894, and died August 23, 1987. Rosa was born September 17, 1901 and died July 6, 1998. The outfit was worn by all of their six children at Nathanael Lutheran Church in Dagmar. The donor is Niels and Rosa's son. |
